It's been a bit longer than it should have been since the last update. Today, we have a bunch of new portraits in the Portrait Gallery, from Manchu and Jeff Murray. I've also added a short FAQ for GCA 3 since I get a lot of mail about it. |

We added some new pictures from Araden 'il Tode' to the Portrait Gallery. Be sure that you check the Recent Updates page for Data Files periodically, since that's the easiest place to be sure your data files are the most current available. And if you need a one-stop shopping experience for data files, be sure to run down to the bottom of the Data Files page for the data files installer, which includes the majority of the English-language data files on the site. |

Added yet more pictures from Manchu to the Portrait Gallery. Split off a new gallery page for him, consisting of the Traveller inspired portraits he's contributed, including the new ones posted today. |

Added several new pictures from Manchu to the Portrait Gallery. I split his second gallery page roughly in half, creating an additional new gallery page. All of his recent contributions appear on the updated Manchu 3 page, though. |

Added a couple of new pictures from GreyJedi to the Portrait Gallery. |

Thanks to Dean Mehling, we now have a new Portrait Templates page, which provides some new character drawing templates to give you a start on drawing your own character portrait. We have them in two sizes: good for GCA, and too big for GCA (but good for printing out and drawing on at full page size). I also shortened up this page, since I have a habit of letting it get too long for comfort. For the first time ever, instead of just chucking out the old items, I saved them (see the link at the bottom of the page). I don't know exactly what the point is, but figured something a bit historical around here might not be a totally bad idea (even if it doesn't go very far back). |

I have given the main Portrait Gallery page a rather different new look. I hope you like it. Every gallery page now has it's own picture 'card' as the link to that gallery page. This does result in more graphics to download, but it allows for a better sampling of the pictures available. It also makes it easier for me to update the site with a new artist or gallery page, since I can just drop the new card into the list without having to juggle around the formatting. |

D'oh! Yesterday I uploaded the updated web pages for the Portrait Gallery, but I forgot to upload the new pictures. Sorry about that, they're up now. |

We've added some new pictures to the Portrait Gallery. Check out the new pictures from GreyJedi and Manchu (on their respective pages), and Juan Jesús Acevedo (on the Misc page). |

One of the things that I get asked fairly often is whether I'll turn some effort toward writing a program for doing GURPS Vehicles. I've always said that I might some time in the future, but that I was hoping in the mean time that someone else would come out with a good program so I wouldn't have to. Well, I think that just happened: Mike Joseph has just released GURPS Vehicle Designer 1.0 for Windows. I actually don't make vehicles myself, so I haven't used it, but GVD looks like a very nice program, and I really like the drag-n-drop approach that he's used. Check it out if you use GURPS Vehicles! |

Item 1: Email. When you send me email, please be sure that the email address you're using in your mail program is one to which I can actually reply. I reply to all direct email that requires any kind of reply, but I find that I am increasingly often receiving email that contains bad or mangled email addresses. I have only limited capability to decipher what the correct email address might actually be, and in some cases it looks fine but still doesn't work. Take care to provide me with an actual, working email address when you write to me. Item 2: GCA 3. I'm back at work on GCA 3 after a long break caused by work and job stress. I'm charged up again (as evidenced by Item 3 below), and hacking away at the code. Unfortunately, the first thing I'm doing is rewriting a bunch of stuff that I already had done. Why? Because it wasn't done very well, and I can do it much better now. People ask me all the time when v3 is coming out, but the answer is still the same: not for quite a while. The good news is that I am working on it again, and enjoying myself doing it, which is a very good sign. Item 3: Mastery. Not directly related to GCA, but related in a way, is Mastery. Mastery is a board game similar in concept to Chess, designed by S. John Ross. It's a fun game, and I like it well enough that quite some time ago I wrote a computer version of it. Recently, I've made a large number of improvements to the program, and rewrote the Internet play capabilities. Now, we're looking for folks to actually play the game, and word is that we may have a tournament in the not-too-distant future (complete with nifty prizes). Give it a look. |

Oops. I accidently uploaded a copy of the Compend1.GDF file that didn't have one of the corrections that it should have had. If you downloaded it prior to about 4:40 pm Pacific Time (GMT -8) today, you should download the newer file that is there now. (I updated the GCA data files installer with the correction as well, so it's now current as well.) |

I finally got around to updating a bunch of data files on the site that the authors and our Data File Coordinator had provided me over the last couple of months. It seems that even with other people doing all the work, I still manage to fall behind on my own tiny little part. In any case, check out the recently updated data files page to see what's new (BlackOps.GDF) and updated (Compend1.GDF and AlienRac.GDF, for example). If you want to update a whole bunch of your data files all at once, we've also updated the GCA data files installer, which contains the majority of the data files on the site. You can get it from the bottom of the main Data Files page. I still have a couple little data file bits to get to some time soon, but these are all the big ones that were pending. |
